This software is free: you can give it to anyone you want, copy it, store it, etc., as long as you don't decompile and/or alter it.
This is a demonstration version of MacPager™ 1.0. It will do everything which the full version does, with two exceptions:
• It will accept any destination number which you enter into the
"Phone List" (Command-P) window, however, when it dials out,
it will ONLY call CID Tech's 800 number, regardless of what number(s) you have entered. The number will either be busy or
ring infinitely, but you will never pay for the call. This will enable
you to test out MacPager™ to see if it works correctly with your modem and Mac, and if it does, you may then wish to purchase a full
version from us.
• The "Call Log" (Command-L) is erased every two hours, whereas in the full version it remains indefinitely.
MacPager™ 1.0 utilizes your Apple Macintosh computer and any modem to report to you remotely that you have received a call on any regular phone line. If you have a Caller ID equipped modem, and subscribe to your local telephone company's "Caller ID" service, MacPager™ will include the Caller ID information as to who called you when it notifies you remotely.
Briefly, the program features:
•Remote notification of Caller ID, time, and number of rings per call to any number of pagers, telephones/carphones, or answering machines.
•A detailed Call Log indicating all inbound call activity, and whether or not remote notification was successful. The Call Log saves itself automatically (which you can disable), providing you with an accurate list of your calls for later reference.
•A simple terminal window to monitor the progress of MacPager™, for short log-ins to mainframes, BBSs, E-mail providers, etc., and for user testing (i.e., you can simulate an inbound call by entering "RING" in the terminal window, and MacPager™ will respond as if it were an actual call.)
•Works in the background, and with most screen savers, including Pyro!™.
•Works on virtually any modem and Macintosh computer, including the Powerbook, Centris, Quadra, SE, 512, and Mac II lines. (Although you need a Caller ID modem to utilize the Caller ID feature.)
•And of course, if you buy MacPager™, you get our artistic brand-new manual detailing all of MacPager™'s features, suitable for framing! :)
